Civ. (\u201cSanas\u201d) brought this case because Krisp Technologies, Inc. (\u201cKrisp\u201d) brazenly misappropriated Sanas\u2019 cutting-edge accent translation machine learning model, claimed inventorship over patents whose purported basis in fact came from Sanas, and engaged in advertising that even Krisp has all but admitted is false.\u00a0 <strong>To deflect from its own clear wrongdoing, Krisp filed counterclaims focused on the California Unfair Practices Act (\u201cUPA\u201d) because Sanas\u2014like Zoom, Microsoft, Krisp, and virtually every other company in the market\u2014allows customers to use its noise cancellation software for free.\u00a0 In other words, Krisp is suing to force Sanas to charge for something that Sanas (and everyone else) gives away for free.\u00a0 Under the UPA\u2019s plain text and common sense, Krisp\u2019s UPA claims are legally barred.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Sanas launched free noise cancellation last year, it said it was in reflection of the company\u2019s \u201ccommitment to breaking down communication barriers and enhancing the experience of . . . customers and agents\u201d and to \u201cset a new standard of empowerment in the industry.\u201d\u00a0 It continued, \u201c[w]e believe that this fundamental tool should be accessible to everyone, which is why we\u2019re offering it for free. Sanas\u2019 Claims To Move Forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On December 1, 2025, the judge overseeing the litigation brought by Sanas against Krisp issued a ruling decisively rejecting Krisp\u2019s attempt to have Sanas\u2019 trade secret, patent ownership, and false advertising claims dismissed. \u00a0The Court found that Sanas\u2019 claims are firmly grounded in the law and that Krisp was wrong to claim that they were legally barred.\u00a0 With this ruling, the Court has clarified that Sanas\u2019 claims will proceed into the discovery phase of the case, and that the claims will be tried on the merits of the evidence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ruling means that there is no legal loophole that allows Krisp to escape from being held to account for what we\u2019ve alleged: theft of Sanas\u2019 IP and its lies about Sanas&#8217;
